New downloadable missions for Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 - Capcom
Last month, we mentioned that Capcom were working on new mission packs for Resident Evil 5, and were asking the fans to vote on whether they would like it as downloadable content or a physical product. Well, the results are in, and Capcom are being faithful to their word.

The fans chose, and they chose well- the new mission packs for Resident Evil 5 will be released in Australia as downloadable content on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live. The new content will follow Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine through a campaign titled "Lost in Nightmares" that takes place in the Spencer Mansion three years prior to the events of Resident Evil 5. We look forward to it!

You can expect to see this content sometime early next year.

Nintendo announce yet another DS

- Nintendo
We couldn't make this up if we tried. It looks like Nintendo will be releasing yet another iteration of the Nintendo DS soon, named the DSi XL.

Like it's name implies, the DSi XL will be a larger version of the currently available DSi. The screens have been changed from 3.25 inches diagonal to 4.2 inches, though the resolution remains the same. We guess this will be aimed towards people who'd rather use their DS for web browsing or reading novels.

The DSi XL will also apparently come preloaded with several DSiWare games and applications, but Nintendo has not yet made clear what these games will be. This really seems like a strange move from Nintendo though, especially seeing as it wasn't that long ago that the first DSi was released. It will be interesting to see if this goes over well with fans, and more importantly- people who bought the first DSi.
The Nintendo DSi XL will be available in early 2010.

New Zelda on the way- will use Wii MotionPlus

- Nintendo
Since its release, there really haven't been a huge amount of games that really take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus add-on, but it looks like that might change soon. The big bosses of Nintendo have been whispering recently about the upcoming Wii instalment of the Zelda series, and it seems that they're doing their best to incorporate Wii MotionPlus technology into it.

In a recent Q&A session in Tokyo, Shigeru Miyamoto (the mastermind behind the whole Zelda franchise) mentioned how the developers are "using MotionPlus to make you feel much more like you're actually fighting while holding a sword in your hand. In the previous game, you aimed at things by pointing at the screen, but this time we'll use MotionPlus to create a much more convenient targeting system and a more pleasurable playing experience."

Fair enough, but we can't help but wonder if the fans will be happy about this. Many of us here were less than impressed with the amount of waggling required to play Twilight Princess, so we're a bit unsure of how to feel about this, but we're sure it will be a quality title nonetheless. Zelda games usually are, and we can expect to see this one sometime in 2010 if we're lucky.

STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Activision
After a long time of waiting, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally available. If you ask us, the wait was worth it- but there were some who weren't willing to wait, and they have paid dearly for it.

Activision-Blizzard and Infinity Ward have been taking theft of Modern Warfare 2 very seriously. A couple of weeks ago, leaked copies of the game appeared on several internet auction sites such as eBay- long before the game was actually released. Activision hired private investigators and tracked down the seller and discovered a scheme to sell pirated copies of the game at inflated prices, as well as a much larger network of people profiting from selling stolen and burned copies of Modern Warfare 2

Activision have also vowed to keep track of anybody found downloading the game from bit torrent networks or any other internet file hosting services and have assured us anyone found guilty of doing so will be punished to the full extent of the law. Yikes! Looks like they're taking this very seriously- so don't illegally acquire Modern Warfare 2 or Activision (and the police) may just come knocking on your door.

Machinarium for PC

Machinarium is a puzzle video game developed by Amanita Design. The goal of Machinarium is to solve a series of puzzles and brain teasers. The puzzles are linked together by an overworld consisting of a traditional point and click adventure story.

The overworlds most radical departure is that only objects within the player characters reach can be clicked on. Machinarium is notable in that it contains no dialogue, neither spoken nor written. The game instead uses a system of animated thought bubbles.
